Terms and Conditions

Effective August 27, 2026

These terms govern the Specola websites and your download, purchase, activation, and use of the Specola desktop application.

Provider identity and acceptance

By accessing the websites or purchasing, installing, activating, or using the desktop application (together, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not purchase, install, or use Specola.

Commercial software

Specola is proprietary commercial software. A purchase grants a license to use the software; it does not transfer ownership of Specola, its source code, trademarks, documentation, or other intellectual property.

The advertised USD 19.90 price is for a one-time desktop-software license unless a different price, currency, tax amount, scope, or promotion is clearly shown at checkout. A one-time purchase is not a subscription and does not promise every future major version, paid add-on, hosted service, or perpetual support unless the checkout offer expressly includes it.

Orders through Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle also handles payment, applicable taxes, receipts, fraud screening, and transaction refunds under its Buyer Terms.

The software is licensed and supported by Specola under these Terms. Mandatory consumer law and Paddle's terms control the subjects to which they legally apply.

License grant

Subject to payment and compliance with these Terms, Specola grants the purchaser a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to install and use the purchased version on devices owned or controlled by the purchaser for personal or internal business purposes. Any activation or device limit shown at checkout or in the license record also applies.

You may make a reasonable number of backup copies solely for recovery. Evaluation, beta, preview, or complimentary licenses may be time-limited or feature-limited and may end when the applicable program ends.

Restrictions and lawful use

Except where applicable law expressly permits and cannot be waived, you must not:

  • sell, rent, lease, sublicense, share, or transfer a license key or entitlement;
  • bypass activation, device limits, signatures, security controls, or feature restrictions;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive non-public source code;
  • remove proprietary notices or misrepresent the origin or ownership of the software;
  • use Specola for unauthorized access, unlawful interception, malware distribution, infringement, or any violation of applicable law; or
  • operate a competing commercial product based substantially on protected Specola materials.

Specola is a network client, not an Internet-access or proxy-server service. You are responsible for the servers, subscriptions, credentials, routes, traffic, and third-party services you configure and for having authority to use them.

Updates and support

We may provide fixes, compatibility updates, or feature changes. Features may change when reasonably necessary for security, compatibility, legal compliance, or product development. We do not guarantee indefinite compatibility with every operating system, protocol, server, or third-party service. Preview builds may contain incomplete features and are not intended for high-risk or safety-critical use.

Product and license support is available at [email protected]. Do not send passwords, private keys, full proxy credentials, payment-card data, or unrelated traffic records. We may request proof of purchase and limited diagnostics needed to reproduce an issue.

Refunds

Our Refund Policy forms part of these Terms. Refunds are returned by Paddle to the original payment method. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable consumer rights.

Third-party services

Specola can connect to third-party proxy servers, DNS resolvers, subscriptions, rule sources, STUN servers, update sources, and other services. We do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for their availability, security, accuracy, legality, pricing, or data practices. Your use of a third party is governed by its terms and your agreement with its operator.

Intellectual property and feedback

Specola and its licensors retain all rights not expressly granted. “Specola,” product graphics, and associated branding may not be used to imply endorsement or affiliation without permission. If you voluntarily provide feedback, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use it to improve and commercialize the Services without identifying you or creating an obligation to compensate you.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend activation or terminate a license when reasonably necessary to address fraud, chargebacks, license sharing, security abuse, sanctions, or a material breach of these Terms. Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Upon termination, you must stop using and delete the software, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant anonymity, access to any destination, compatibility with every network, or protection against every leak, attack, loss, or misconfiguration. These exclusions apply only to the extent legally permitted.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Specola and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from the Services.

Our aggregate liability relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount paid for the affected Specola license during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or USD 20. These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot lawfully be limited for fraud, willful misconduct, death, personal injury, or mandatory consumer rights.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, business users agree to defend and indemnify Specola against third-party claims arising from their unlawful use of the Services, unauthorized network activity, or material breach of these Terms. This section does not apply to consumers where prohibited.

Governing rules and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Specola's established place of business, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Courts serving that location have jurisdiction, except that consumers retain mandatory protections and courts available in their country of residence. Before filing a claim, contact support and allow 30 days for an informal attempt to resolve it.

General

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions remain effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, or sale.

These Terms, the checkout offer, the Privacy Policy, and the Refund Policy form the agreement concerning the software. We may update these Terms prospectively by publishing a new effective date. Changes do not retroactively reduce rights for a completed one-time purchase where prohibited by law.
